One of the most important things to come out of what has been considered a fourth industrial revolution, is the CNC machine. CNC machines perform manufacturing processes based on programmed computer software. Advantages of CNC machines include better accuracy, better speed, better efficiency, and a safer process. There are disadvantages as well, however, including higher cost, and a lower need for employees, which leads to unemployment of manual machine operators. On the other side of that, is the lack of people who are qualified to run these machines.
- CNC machining provides high levels or accuracy and precision, assuming the operator is effective.
- CNC machines have great speed and can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- The machines require little maintenance and are safe because operators don’t go near the cutting tools.
“The manufacturing industry, especially, benefits from CNC machining. Compared to manual machining, CNC technology improves efficiency and accuracy, makes production faster, and leads to safer and cheaper operations.”
