An old school weather station tracks humidity, temperature and barometric pressure without the need for batteries. It can be made with or without a CNC router. With a CNC machine, a backer board is necessary. While CNC could be programmed to cut out the dial circles, we prefer to use it to cut the shape of the blank. When machining is done, the pieces need to be sanded and finished. If you aren’t using a CNC machine, download the weather station PDF and use MDF and a flush-trim router bit.
- The CNC machine could cut out circular dials, but we think it is more efficient to have it cut the shape of the blank.
- Finished pieces should be sanded smooth and then coated with finish of your choosing.
- If you are not using a CNC, use MDF and a flush-trim router bit.
“You’ve probably seen these classic wall-hung weather stations by the score over the years.”
