The vintage care market has been booming since the beginning of the pandemic. Online car auctions have seen an increase in participation as more people have been stuck at home in quarantine. Some of the popular vintage cars that are selling at a high rate include, but are not limited to, the Mazda Miata, Pontiac Firebird, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Porsche Boxster, and the Ferrari Testarossa. Much of these vintage vehicles were manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s, but are now viewed as modern classics.
- Even in the midst of a wallet-crushing pandemic, some investors are finding gold. Big gold, in the shape of vintage autos. Some of this due to stay at home boredom.
- Mask avoiders, staying close to home are tired of online games and Facebook Marketplace. New diversions are making the grade.
- Newer auction sites are eager to make customers of stay-at-homers. They offer more than affordable but hardly exotic buys. Cars are selling like hotcakes, including older Porsches and Firebirds.
“The cars that are selling come in all forms, but the hottest segment of the market is in affordable (four- and five-figure) modern classics.”
